Hegelmann Group Supports Refugees Affected by The Conflict in Ukraine

As a logistics company with multiple facilities in Ukraine, the ongoing conflict hits particularly close to home for the Hegelmann Group. In response to the crisis, we have taken action to aid those affected by the conflict and support the humanitarian effort.

We have helped by gathering clothes, food and medicine, which our company’s trucks and transporters delivered to refugees in Poland and Lithuania. We also offered accommodation to refugees coming from Ukraine, recognising that many of these people were fleeing their homes and had nowhere to go. In addition to providing basic necessities, we have taken the following steps:

  • We established a dedicated Crisis Management Group, coordinated by the Hegelmann family, to ensure our employees and their families were safely evacuated from the Ukraine/Poland border.

  • Two fully packed Hegelmann trucks arrived in Poland with goods for refugees from Ukraine. We were also part of a Red Cross convoy of 50 trucks coming from Lithuania.
  • Our German office collected multiple truckloads of items, and we continued to explore ways to support the humanitarian effort.
  • We adapted a local building to provide warm shelter, equipping it with furniture, beds and sanitary facilities, and we expanded our services to provide meals, medical care, assistance in dealing with official matters and psychological support.
  • In Poland, employees from several departments in Częstochowa coordinated two actions: collecting food, medication and other necessary items to be taken to the Ukraine border, and collecting goods and food for refugees coming to Częstochowa. We were supported by Częstochowa’s City Hall in these efforts.
  • Our office in Romania gathered items, visited refugee centres, helped at the borders with translation and distributing items, searched for accommodation for Ukrainian people and hosted people from Ukraine.
  • We aided refugees, particularly women and children, travelling from the border to Częstochowa.
  • Our football sections of FC Hegelmann in Lithuania donated income from ticket sales and proceeds from a charity collection box towards supporting the organisation Blue&Yellow.org. Additionally, the football academy supported Ukrainian refugee children by inviting them to the academy free of charge.

Moving forward, we will continue to work closely with local organisations and charities to identify areas where we can be of assistance, and we will strive to be a responsible and sustainable corporate citizen.
